Dairy Farm Machinery Categories Serviced Across Tasmania
Agri Tech Services supplies and services a full range of dairy equipment suited to Tasmanian operations, from compact family-run herds to larger enterprises across the state.
Milking Systems
Milking systems are the operational core of any dairy farm. Agri Tech Services supports robotic automatic milking systems, rotary parlours, and herringbone configurations, with equipment sourced through their DeLaval partnership. System selection depends on herd size, labour availability, and paddock layout.
Milk Cooling and Storage
Effective milk cooling is critical to maintaining quality between the vat and tanker collection. Cooling systems must handle Tasmania's variable seasonal temperatures, including summer conditions in inland areas like Deloraine, TAS, where ambient heat can affect chilling performance if equipment is undersized or poorly maintained. Agri Tech Services assists with specification, installation, and ongoing servicing.
Herd Management Technology
Modern herd management systems integrate with milking hardware to capture data on individual animal performance, health, and reproduction. This reduces manual record-keeping and improves early detection of health issues. Agri Tech Services supplies and services these systems as part of a broader milk quality and monitoring approach.
Grain Processing and Feeding Equipment
Tasmania's pasture-based operations often supplement grazing with in-bail grain feeding at milking time. Agri Tech Services supplies grain processing and dispensing machinery suited to this common feeding model, supporting consistent ration delivery without adding significant labour overhead.
Rotary vs Herringbone: Choosing the Right Parlour Layout for Your Herd
The choice between rotary and herringbone parlour layouts is one of the most significant dairy farm machinery decisions a Tasmanian operator can make. Both systems are supported by Agri Tech Services.
Rotary parlours suit operations with 500 or more head where throughput and reduced walking are priorities. Agri Tech Services has supplied and installed rotary systems including the DeLaval E100, with that installation reported as only the second of its kind sold in Australia at the time.
Herringbone parlours suit mid-sized herds, offer lower entry costs, and are easier to expand incrementally. Both systems can be configured with automation to offset labour pressures, which is relevant given ongoing staffing challenges across regional Tasmania.
What Equipment Do Tasmanian Dairy Farms Need?
Tasmania's dairy industry is concentrated primarily in the north, where reliable rainfall and cooler conditions support strong pasture growth. Most farms run a grazing-plus-bail feeding model, so equipment priorities centre on milking efficiency, in-parlour grain dispensing, and robust cooling systems rather than total mixed ration infrastructure common on mainland operations.
Farms serviced by Agri Tech Services span the north-west through to the east coast and south, meaning specifications vary by location, herd size, and infrastructure access. Contact the Agri Tech Services team to discuss what machinery configuration suits your operation.
